  • Author: Noah
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This Instant Pot Ikea Swedish Meatballs recipe offers a quick and easy way to enjoy classic Swedish flavors at home. Frozen meatballs are pressure cooked to tender perfection, then smothered in a rich, homemade gravy made from a convenient gravy mix. Served with lingonberry jam, this comforting dish captures the authentic taste of Sweden with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale

Meatballs

  • 1 package ALLEMANSRÄTTEN Meatballs (frozen)
  • 1 1/2 cups water (for cooking meatballs)

Gravy

  • 1 package gravy mix
  • 1 cup water (or as directed on gravy package)

To Serve

  • Lingonberry jam, for serving

Instructions

  1. Pressure Cook Meatballs: Pour 1 1/2 cups of water into the Instant Pot and place the trivet inside. Add the frozen meatballs on top of the trivet. Seal the lid and set the valve to the closed position. Select High Pressure and set the timer for 6 minutes. When the cooking cycle finishes, perform a quick release of pressure.
  2. Prepare Gravy: Carefully remove the meatballs from the Instant Pot and set aside. Add the additional water required by the gravy mix instructions (usually about 1 cup) into the pot. Switch the Instant Pot to Sauté mode and whisk in the gravy mix. Stir frequently and bring the mixture to a boil until the gravy thickens, then turn off the heat.
  3. Serve: Plate the meatballs and generously spoon the hot gravy over them. Serve with a side of lingonberry jam to complement the savory flavors with a touch of sweetness.

Notes

  • Do not overfill the Instant Pot; follow manufacturer guidelines for maximum liquid volume.
  • Use frozen meatballs straight from the freezer to ensure even cooking.
  • Lingonberry jam is a traditional accompaniment but can be substituted with cranberry sauce if unavailable.
  • For thicker gravy, allow it to simmer a bit longer while stirring frequently.
  • Adjust seasoning in the gravy if desired by adding a pinch of pepper or herbs.
