Scale
Chicken
- 4 to 5 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup water (or chicken broth)
Alabama White Sauce
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard
- 2 teaspoons raw horseradish
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Assembly
- Slider buns
Instructions
- Cook the chicken: Place the chicken breasts in the Instant Pot and add 1 cup of water or chicken broth. Secure the lid and set the valve to the sealed position. Press the pressure cook or manual button and set the cooking time to 30 minutes for large chicken breasts, or reduce by 10 minutes if using smaller breasts. This ensures tender chicken that shreds easily.
- Release pressure and shred: Once the cooking cycle completes, carefully release the pressure. Remove the chicken from the pot, discard the cooking liquid, and shred the chicken using two forks.
- Prepare the Alabama white sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, buttermilk, apple cider vinegar, granulated sugar, spicy brown mustard, raw horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until smooth and lump-free. Chill the sauce in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- Assemble the sliders: Place shredded chicken onto slider buns and generously spoon the Alabama white sauce over the top. Finish by placing the top slider bun on each sandwich and serve immediately for a delicious Southern-inspired treat.
Notes
- You can substitute water with chicken broth for more flavor while cooking the chicken.
- If you want spicier sauce, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the white sauce.
- These sliders are best served fresh but can be refrigerated for up to 2 days.
- To make ahead, cook and shred the chicken and prepare the sauce separately, then assemble just before serving.
- Slider buns can be toasted lightly for extra texture and flavor.
