Ingredients
Scale
Cheese and Dairy
- 4 ounces Chèvre goat cheese
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- 6 tablespoons buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons sour cream
Herbs and Seasonings
- 1/4 cup fresh dill (leaves and stems)
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley (leaves and stems)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (more as desired)
- Coarse salt, to taste
- Ground black pepper, to taste
Additional
- Water as needed (added 1 tablespoon at a time to adjust consistency)
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a food processor, add the chèvre goat cheese, cream cheese, buttermilk, sour cream, fresh dill, fresh parsley, and garlic powder. Pulse together until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
- Adjust Consistency: Gradually add water, one tablespoon at a time, while pulsing or mixing, until the dip reaches your desired consistency — creamy but not too thin.
- Season to Taste: Add coarse salt and freshly ground black pepper according to your preference. If you desire a stronger garlic flavor, add additional garlic powder in 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon increments, mixing well after each addition.
- Serve or Chill: Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. For best flavor, chill for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld. Serve with fresh vegetables, crackers, or bread.
Notes
- This dip can be made a day ahead and stored covered in the refrigerator to enhance flavor development.
- Use fresh herbs for the brightest flavor, but dried herbs can be substituted if necessary; reduce quantity to 1 tablespoon each.
- If buttermilk is unavailable, substitute with regular milk plus a teaspoon of lemon juice or vinegar left to sit for 5 minutes.
- Adjust water carefully to avoid making the dip too runny; it should remain thick enough to scoop.
- For a spicy twist, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes.
