Chilli Chocolate Egg Lollies Recipe
Introduction
Chilli chocolate egg lollies are a fun and spicy twist on a classic chocolate treat. Combining rich dark chocolate with a hint of hot chilli, these festive lollies are perfect for gifting or enjoying yourself. The edible glitter adds a playful sparkle that makes them truly special.

Ingredients
- 140g dark chocolate
- 2-3 pinches hot chilli powder
- Edible red glitter or sprinkles, to decorate
- 12 lolly sticks
Instructions
- Step 1: Draw an egg shape about 6cm long on baking parchment to use as a template. Trace this shape 10–12 times on sheets of baking parchment.
- Step 2: Create a polka-dot stencil by hole-punching a piece of paper slightly larger than the egg shape. Fold the paper in half to get holes closer together, reaching the middle.
- Step 3: Melt the dark chocolate in a bowl placed over a pan of barely simmering water, stirring occasionally until smooth.
- Step 4: Stir in 2–3 pinches of hot chilli powder, tasting as you go to check the heat level.
- Step 5: Spoon a small amount of the chocolate mixture inside each egg shape on the baking parchment.
- Step 6: Place a lolly stick into each chocolate egg while the chocolate is still wet, pressing gently to secure.
- Step 7: Hold the polka-dot stencil just above the surface of one lolly and secure it with Blu-Tack nearby, taking care not to touch the chocolate. Sprinkle edible red glitter or sprinkles over the stencil, then carefully lift it away.
- Step 8: Repeat the decoration process for all lollies, then leave them in a cool place to fully set.
Tips & Variations
- For a white chocolate alternative, swap dark chocolate for 140g white chocolate and replace the chilli with 2 tablespoons of popping candy. Decorate with sprinkles and allow to set for a fun, fizzy touch.
Storage
Store the lollies in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to two weeks. Avoid refrigeration to prevent condensation. If they soften, simply leave them at room temperature to firm up again before serving.

The recipe also offers a white chocolate and popping candy variation for a fun twist.
Ingredients
Dark Chocolate Chilli Egg Lollies
- 140g dark chocolate
- 2–3 pinches hot chilli powder
- Edible red glitter or sprinkles, for decoration
- 12 lolly sticks
Optional White Chocolate & Popping Candy Variation
- 140g white chocolate
- 2 tbsp popping candy
- Sprinkles, for decoration
Instructions
- Prepare templates and stencil: Draw an egg shape about 6cm long on paper and use it as a template to trace 10-12 egg shapes on sheets of baking parchment. Using a hole punch, create a polka-dot stencil from a piece of paper slightly bigger than the egg shape by folding it in half and punching holes to the middle.
- Melt the chocolate: Place the chocolate in a bowl over a pan of barely simmering water (double boiler) and gently melt, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat.
- Add chilli powder: Stir 2-3 pinches of hot chilli powder into the melted chocolate, adjusting to taste for desired heat.
- Fill egg shapes and insert sticks: Spoon a small amount of the chilli chocolate inside each egg outline on the parchment paper. Place a lolly stick onto the chocolate in each shape so the stick is embedded and will hold when set.
- Decorate with stencil: Hold the polka-dot stencil slightly above the wet chocolate surface (secured with Blu-Tack but not touching) and sprinkle edible red glitter or sprinkles over. Gently lift off the stencil. Repeat for each chocolate egg lolly.
- Set the lollies: Leave the decorated lollies somewhere cool and undisturbed to set completely until firm, usually about 1-2 hours.
Notes
- For a fun alternative, use white chocolate instead of dark and replace chilli powder with popping candy as described in the variation.
- Adjust chilli powder quantity according to your heat preference.
- If gluten-free or dietary restrictions apply, ensure decorations and popping candy are compliant.
- Use disposable gloves if preferred when handling chocolate to avoid fingerprints.
