Ingredients
Scale
Cookie Dough
- 1 cup butter, softened
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
Cinnamon Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 4 tablespoons heavy cream or milk (or more to preferred consistency)
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon, for garnish
Instructions
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the egg thoroughly until the mixture is well combined and smooth.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: Add ½ cup of the flour, baking powder, and salt to the butter mixture. Stir to combine. Gradually add the remaining flour in ½ cup increments, mixing well after each addition until the dough is fully combined.
- Shape Cookies: Use a small cookie scoop or tablespoon to portion the dough. Roll each portion into balls and gently flatten them with your palm. Arrange the cookies on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet, spacing them evenly.
- Bake Cookies: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the cookies for 8–9 minutes, or until the centers are just set. The cookies should remain light in color without browning. After baking, let them sit on the sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
- Prepare the Cinnamon Glaze: Whisk together the powdered sugar, cinnamon, salt, and heavy cream (or milk) until the glaze is smooth and reaches your desired consistency.
- Glaze the Cookies: Once the cookies have cooled completely, dip the tops into the cinnamon glaze by turning the cookies upside down and gently lifting them out. Place the cookies back on the cooling rack or a piece of parchment paper, glaze side up. Sprinkle with additional cinnamon for garnish and allow the glaze to set.
Notes
- Make sure the butter is softened to room temperature for easy creaming.
- If the glaze is too thick, add a little more cream or milk to thin it out.
- You can substitute heavy cream with milk for a lighter glaze.
- Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
- For a festive touch, add a pinch of nutmeg to the glaze.
