Ingredients

Scale

Steak Ingredients

  • 2 rib-eye steaks, around 260g each and 3cm thick
  • 1 tsp oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the steaks: Pat the rib-eye steaks dry using kitchen paper or a clean cloth to remove any excess moisture. Brush both sides of the steaks with 1 teaspoon of oil, then season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper to enhance their natural flavors.
  2. Preheat the air fryer: Set your air fryer to 200°C (392°F) and allow it to heat for 2 minutes. This preheating ensures the steaks start cooking immediately, giving a nice sear.
  3. Cook the steaks: Place the steaks in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 6 minutes initially. Then flip the steaks over and cook for an additional 2 minutes for rare to medium-rare doneness. For medium, cook for 2 more minutes, and for well-done, add a final 2 minutes cooking time.
  4. Rest the steaks: Remove the steaks from the air fryer and transfer them to a plate. Let them rest for 3-4 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute and the muscle fibers to relax, ensuring moist and tender steaks.
  5. Serve and enjoy: Optionally, prepare a sauce during the resting time to serve alongside your steak. Serve the steaks hot for a delicious meal.

Notes

  • Flip the steak part-way through cooking to achieve even cooking on both sides.
  • Resting the steak after cooking allows juices to redistribute for a moist and flavorful steak.
  • Bring steaks to room temperature before cooking (about 20-25 minutes out of the fridge) to reduce toughness and promote even cooking.
  • You can prepare a sauce while the steak rests to complement the dish.
